I see sometimes at fairs that the booths have creditcard accessibility how does that work?

March11

All i know is that they use a machine and sometimes a mechanism that copies the front of the card for proof of purchase reasons i think.
Oh and how in the world would you get one of those machines?

via satelite link up to the credit company. that’s why those machines take much longer to complete the transaction than in a normal store. Also…if you pay attn to the machine, you’ll see a small antennae on it.

A business is allowed to have a Merchant Account, that is an agreement with a credit card service provider. They rent the machine and it uses a cell phone connection to talk to a computer about the sale for verification. They also pay a hefty price to have this service.

We manufacture mobile ATM that are placed in fairs and festivals (franklinatm.com). We use wireless modems that use an encrypted signal to transmit data. Our ATMs are placed at a low height to comply with ADA rules and for the convenience of customers. Pictures on our site.
