Yes In almost all major cities you can use them and even most smaller ones. You also have ATM in quite a lot places where you can take money out (keep in mind there is about2.5% charge or so to take money out)
But apart from that there is definitely no problem in using credit cards in europe
You may use credit cards for traveling in Europe. Traveler’s checks are meanwhile uncommon whereas credit cards like visa or mastercard are almost accepted everywhere in Europe. You may use them in lots of premium shops and hotels. More common however are ATM cards which enable to either get money in foreign currency or pay bills in Europe by just providing the ATM card.
